The Silodam is a unique location. A three-hundred-meter long dam between the IJ and the Oude Houthavens, a stone's throw from the Jordaan and the Prinseneiland. The neighborhood / environment is creative, inspiring and very central, but also quietly situated on the dead-end Silodam. Walking and cycling distance are all conceivable facilities and eye-catchers such as the Central Station, the Stone Head, the Adam Tower, the center, the fantastic shops on the Haarlemmerdijk and Haarlemmerstraat, the Westerpark and the ferry around the corner to the hip and trendy NDSM shipyard on the other side of the IJ. The A-10 ring road and the roads are also quickly and easily accessible.
Every aspect of the space—from the materials to the design—are luxurious and minimalist in style. Modern yet comfortable, with a perfect combination of wood, steel, and rock. Everything is in pristine condition; the slate flooring, stainless steel counter, floating wooden bench, and teak cupboards. The bedroom sits on the IJ river level, with open water views of the passing ships. You awake to the sound of water gently rolling into the original wooden moorings. The ceiling is very high, and above the bed hangs a unique light designed by Hank Stallinga. You couldn’t find a more calm and magical place to wake up in Amsterdam. The bathroom is designed with the same slate tiles as the apartment floor, featuring a very large rain shower—as well as a hand-held head—chrome finishings, and a glass sliding door. Outside of the bedroom door on the river IJ there is a patio space with a glass enclosure—a nice area to sit and drink tea.
